Still about the celebration of Chinese New Year or Imlek, as the Indonesian calls it, we found another spot for you to spend your weekend. The name is Petak Sembilan, in Glodok, Central Jakarta. Glodok is the China Town of Jakarta, therefore it is the right place for you to go there during Imlek. Why? Because there are lots of activities you can do. Here are a few things that The Ondel-Ondel find.
You can enjoy the traditional Chinese culinary appeared only
during Imlek. There are many trader sells different kinds of food and snacks.
Kue keranjang (basket cake), friend cempedak, kuo tie, and the famous grilled “sedap wangi“ duck. Finished with the food and getting thirsty? There
is also an old and authentic coffee shop sells ice coffee Tak Kie, or just go around and look for Ice selendang mayang that is hard to find today.
The other interested spot in Petak Sembilan are the temples.
There are several temples to visit, starting from the oldest one, Jin De Yuan
temple that built on 1650, Pavilion Koan Im, and Toasebio Temple. All of those
3 temples have thick Chinese atmosphere with the dominance of red colour, the
smell of hio, and the dim light from the lampion. Besides being a comfortable
place to pray, these temples along with the traders and culinary create perfect
ambiances for photographers to shoot exotic moments.
